Fashion can be fun

The fashion world is an estremely serious business where creative vision, millions of dollars and stricht schedules are mixed together. The model's first rule on the catwalk is  "don't smile".With this ad campain  Lanvin wanted to go over this seriousness that often communicate extreme luxe but rarely fun.
Models are really goofy in the dance, they can walk and stare but maybe no one have ever asked them to dance. Do you like Lanvin Fall Winter 2011-2012 Ad Campaign?Do you find it funny?

A fancy new hat for an old lamp

This lamp lost its head a few years ago, today I wanted to try to give it a new life and place it in a  romantic themed room with a pink palette.

the old lamp without its hat: its body looks just like a stem

I bought a fake flower
I disassemled it
widened the hole at the center
inserted the petals into the disassembled body of the lamp
I cut some leaf shaped pieces of paper
and glued them onto the bottom of the flower
I put the light back on and the lamp refashion is done.
What do you think of the result?

How to fix a broken eyeshadow

How many times happens to break an eyeshadow? We have to clean everything up and then tens of dollars go into the trash. Just few days ago I have broken an eyeshadow in my favorite shade of green  and I thought: is it possible that it can't it be fixed? It's only pressed powder. So I searched for a tutorial on the internet and  I found the solution!

you only need a few drops of alcohol
avete bisogno solo di qualche goccia di alcol
pour the alcohol into the eyeshadow
versate qualche goccia di alcol nell'ombretto

take a piece of tissue paper and press down over the powder with a flat surface (ideally big as the eyeshadow), really press!

the powder is now well pressed

ed ecco la polvere  nuovamente pressata

I tried again with again with the orange eyeshadow
i'll leave them open for a few days to allow the alcohol to evaporate

lascerò gli ombretti all'aria qualche giorno per permettere all'alcol di evaporare completamente

I'm pretty satisfied with the result, I've turned the eyeshadow upside down and the powder stayed in place.
Here's the full video that teached me this technique:

Sequin nails

Fishscale nails by Deez Nails
 Sequin nails by Glammed up

Sequins are going to be a hot trend this winter so why don't glam up our nails with sequins instead of just sparkly glitters? I have to say that these nails found surfing the web really grab the attention.

Studded statement jewelry DIY

I am loving so much my new shoes that looking at them again and again I had the idea of making a statement jewel inspired by them.  For this jewel I used bias tape. I've studded it and then sewed it. What do you think of the result?
I hope you are all enjoying your holidays!

New and cool at Zara

New at Zara
My last trip to Zara left me overwhelmed: I liked the explosion of snakeskin, both on clothes and shoes and a few frivolous pieces for the night like the feather waistcoat and the silver painted top. This one that can be easily done using a summer lace top and silver fabric paint! Paint it,iron it and wear it! Are you ready to diy?

Back to the essential

The economic crisis that is effecting our world is making this August definitely bitter. It will take us towards a season, the next one,in the spirit of austerity.
Thinking this I was drawn by this bag that fully expresses the season new mood: a rational shape,a classical model,a reassuring mix between concreteness and vintage. Its color is the most versatile so the bag will keep us company from am to pm thanks to its relatively small dimensions.

What do you think of it? Are you ready to renounce to color for a more durable, minimal look?
A couple of more pictures after the jump.

Few days after writing about t-shirts with designer faces on I found this t-shirt in Florence.
I'll wear it waiting John Galliano's comeback on the fashion scene.

Small leather goods

Me and my sister bought these two small wallets while in Florence.
I love everything about them: the bright colours, the leather pattern and the special small closure.
More pics after the jump.

DIY idea: rubber keyboard bag

These bags are so original, colorful and different and perfect for geeks!
A rubber keyboards is available to buy for ten euros. You just have to fold it in half, glue the bottom and the side and then add a zipper. Punch the rubber  to add the strap and in five minutes the bag is done!
To buy these bags just head to  Cocco Drive website.

Valentino inspired studded shoes DIY

the shoes as i bought them
le scarpe prima del trattamento
the inspiration: Valentino studded shoes
a pair of shoes
a long belt
gold studs

un paio di scarpe
una cinta
borchie a volontà
to make the pattern of the border of the shoes i've wrapped them with plastic film

I've marked the border
ho ricalcato il bordo

I've taken off the plastic and adjusted its width

I've cut the leather following the pattern
Ho ritagliato la pelle seguendo il modello

I have added the studs
Ho aggiunto le borchie
I tried the piece onto the shoe
I've folded and glued the border
Ho ripiegato e incollato i bordi
I've tried on the shoe and wrapped my foot with paper and scotch
I've drawn the straps onto the pattern

And this is the pattern
Ecco il modello della scarpa

On the inside of the belt you can see that the borders are folded and glued. I've unglued them and added the studs to obtain a well refined straps

At this point i've followed the pattern and sewed the straps together

I've then glued everything onto the shoes and added press stud buttons!
