Lace bellbottoms DIY

Now you know, the bellbottoms fever completely got me so yesterday afternoon i took a regular pair of jeans and turned them in bellbottoms. Basically i took a triangular shape fabric and inserted it into the outer lateral seam of the trousers. To give a twist to the design i choosed a lace fabric.Lace fabric is too light weighted compared to the jean fabric so i reinforced it with a layer of tulle. What are the "benefits" of doing yourself a pair of bellbottoms?
As we can see they starting to be available in shops but many times they are not enought tight fitted at the top and not wide enought at the bottom.DIY your jeans mean you can choose the fit.
You can add a personal touch to them, you can use groovy tie dye fabrics or jeans too to make the bell (pay only attention to the weight of the fabric you choose or the bell will collapse), variety are infinite.
Start choosing a pair of regular leg jeans you like.
I'll guide you step to step.

  1. Try on your jeans and mark the point where you want to bell to start. I've made it start right below the knee.
  1. take them off and start undoing the lateral outer seam.

(trying the lace effect)

3. Now decide the width of the fabric addiction,i've cut a triangular piece of paper,in my case 16 cms wide with the height regulated with the mark i've previously taken on jeans.

4. I've put the tulle and the lace fabric one onto the other and cut them in the triangular shape and sewn onto the jeans

(a close up of the 2 fabrics together)

Now you have your new pair of bellbottoms. This projects has been finished in just 1 hour.
If you want your bell wider just choose a bigger triangle or you can undo the inner seam too and add a piece of fabric there.

KTZ new collection at Topshop: jeans tessellation

This morning i gave a look at Konon to Zai new collection for Topshop!
A couple of item took my attention and they are these new piece of denim.
The work that has been done to these jeans is impressive, they are all decorated with an intricated woven design. Too bad they are super expensive: £280, but if you can buy them you can have the coordinated bag too.

The seventies clothes color palette

What is the colour code for a seventies lover?
My view explained!
Green or blue are the colours for jeans. The green is a forest green, the blue is a vintage wash. The original dittos are a must, i've already spread my word for the twenty8twelve flare jeans, fab! Another loved piece is the tan leather, jacket or mac, the oasis one from the last year collection is perfect! The orange color attracts me a lot, i've already bought a sheer blouse and an original 70s vintage dress in this color.

An eye on Twenty8twelve

For this season i'm looking for the seventies vibe! What i found is a wonderful pair of trousers from twenty8twelve. High waisted, flare legs, nice wash, they rise on the back with a v shape. I'll wear them with high wedges with wood detail and a mesh see trougth orange top. Unfortunately they are not from the last collection but the are even on sale if you find them. Twenty8twelve is a very nice brand wth a distint english feel in the cut of their pieces and in the feel of their collections, i'll definitely will keep an eye out!Twenty8twelve jeans

The seventies are going to be back!

I really think that the 70s fashion is making a come back!
This means chiffon ballon sleeves, high waisted flare jeans, floral patterns, lace dresses, jumpsuits, super big drop sunglasses. So grab that dvd of the charlie's angels and try to copy their style!
In the next post my personal selection of inspired 70s pieces and original vintage items i've collected!
